VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -The Chicago Blackhawks had little trouble getting up to play the Vancouver Canucks after being blown out at Calgary one night earlier.

It's not like they expended much energy anyway in their 7-2 loss to the Flames on Friday.

Jonathan Toews and Troy Brouwer scored 2:26 apart early in the second period, and Brent Seabrook and Patrick Sharp added goals 1:47 apart later in the period to chase goalie Roberto Luongo and spark Chicago's 7-1 romp over the Canucks on Saturday night.

"Last night we had only three hits and that's just unacceptable," Brouwer said. "We had a meeting about it this morning and everyone decided to take it upon themselves to be that much better."

Fernando Pisani scored twice early in the third, Patrick Kane scored with 8:31 left, and Marian Hossa had three assists for the Blackhawks, who are 2-1 halfway through a six-game road trip that will detour to Las Vegas for a short break.

"It wouldn't have been a good day to go to Vegas after last night's game," coach Joel Quenneville said. "It was a great response and amazing what the turnaround was. Everybody was embarrassed, disappointed, frustrated. You can you can talk about different things but it was exactly what we were hoping for."

The only downside was Corey Crawford losing his shutout bid when Mikael Samuelsson banged in a power-play rebound with 6:33 left. But by then the Blackhawks had already humiliated the team they eliminated in the second round of the playoffs the last two seasons.

The Canucks didn't appreciate the Blackhawks' approach once the game was already out of hand.

"We basically embarrassed ourselves in front of our fans, and they did everything they could to rub it in our face," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said. "(It's) 6-0 and they throw their number one power-play unit when it's 5-on-3. They have every right to do that. They did it. They were pushing it, and they did."

Quenneville denied he and the Blackhawks were trying to run up the score.

"Tough to comment because I don't know hat's he's talking about," Quenneville said. "I was rolling four lines. I don't know if that was an insult or not an insult, but I was worried about playing everybody and I think I was probably doing it for the opposite reason we are asking that question."

The Canucks were coming off a five-game trip, and looked as though they left their legs on the road. Luongo was pulled after Sharp made it 4-0 with 4:25 left in the second. He finished with just 16 saves as Vancouver lost at home in regulation for the first time this season (6-1-1).

It was reminiscent of the end of last season, when Chicago knocked the Canucks out in the second round of the playoffs for a second straight time. After a sloppy, mistake filled first period for both teams, the Blackhawks took over in the second. Chicago picked apart the defense and Luongo before the Canucks, as they did in the playoffs, unraveled with a string of penalties.

"We're going to have to find a way to play better at home against that team," Vigneault said.

Crawford got the start after No. 1 goalie Marty Turco stayed in for all seven goals in Friday's loss. He made 27 saves and nearly had his second NHL shutout, and first since 2008, but Samuelsson ended those hopes with a late rebound goal. Crawford made his best save on a 3-on-1, short-handed rush early in the second period.

Toews sparked the rout four minutes later, driving hard to the net to deflect Hossa's long shot through Luongo's pads at 4:49.

Brouwer blew past Christian Ehrhoff 2 1/2 minutes after that to double the lead, and Seabrook and Sharp scored two more quick goals to end Luongo's night in net.

Rookie backup Cory Schneider didn't fare much better. Pisani was left alone in the slot for two straight goals early in the third before Kane blew a shot over Schneider's glove from the right circle with 8:31 left.

"I thought it was going to be a tough game, to be honest," said Kane, who added two assists. "But if we compete and play hard and are tough to play against, I think our speed and skill take over. You saw that tonight."

NOTES: The Blackhawks were scheduled to fly to Las Vegas after the game. The playing part of the trip will continue at San Jose on Wednesday. ... Schneider made 18 saves. ... Canucks D Keith Ballard was a late scratch and was replaced by Aaron Rome. RW Peter Schaefer replaced Rick Rypien after being scratched the previous four games.
