EDMONTON, AB (AP) - It was a nail-biter right to the end, but the Vancouver Canucks couldn't manage to squeeze out a win in Edmonton on their last game of a long road trip. Goals were hard to come by, and it looked for a while like the two teams would see each other in overtime without a goal scored, but the Oilers managed to break the Canucks' defensive wall in the 3rd with a goal by Horcoff to take the lead.

But the Canucks would answer back. With only a minute and a half left in regulation, Mattias Ohlund found the back of the net off a rebound from Daniel Sedin. Then it was off to overtime, which had plenty of scoring chances, but no saw no goals scored.

GAME EXTRAS

Kesler, the second shooter for the Canucks, was the first to score, but in the end the Oilers managed to get 2 by Sanford, with Fernando Pisani scoring the deciding goal. The Edmonton Oilers earned their third straight post-regulation win in a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

It was the second loss in a row for Vancouver, which lost for the third time on its now completed four-game road trip. Vancouver is back in GM Place on Tuesday to host New Jersey.

Edmonton (16-16-2) moved back to the .500 mark for the first time since the fourth game of the season. The Oilers are 8-3-1 in their last 12 and have 10 wins this season in shootouts.

After going scoreless for over 56 minutes, the teams traded goals two minutes apart late in regulation.

Shawn Horcoff scored with 3:29 remaining in the third period. Ales Hemsky hung on to the puck, circling behind the net before feeding Horcoff in front for a one-timer. It was his 16th of the season.
