Vancouver Canucks vs. San Jose Sharks - Preview

It took six games for the Canucks to finally dress their veteran players as Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Roberto Luongo, Alex Burrows, and Dan Hamhuis were amongst a handful of players to make their preseason debut Wednesday night against the Ducks.

However, the Canucks fell just short as the Ducks sealed the preseason series with a 3-2 victory in Anaheim and Vancouver falls to 4-2-0 in exhibition play.

It was the vets who came up big for Vancouver Wednesday with Henrik Sedin leading the way, recording a goal and an assist. Sami Salo scored the other Canuck goal of the night.

In his first preseason outing, Roberto made 19 saves on 22 shots.

With 34 players remaining at camp, the Canucks coaching staff aren't done evaluating and 14 players will still have to wait and see if they are on the ice October 6.

One of those players vying for a permanent spot is Victor Oreskovich, who was part of the Stanley Cup Final lineup last season. He has played 4 of the six preseason games so far and played over 10 minutes every game. He only saw over 10 minutes of play in two games through 16 regular season and 19 playoff games.

Only two players without any NHL experience remain in Nicklas Jensen and Jordan Schroeder, who have heard high praises from head coach Alain Vigneault since the start of training camp. Both were first round picks - Schroeder in 2009, 22nd overall and most recently, Jensen in the 2011 entry draft at 29th overall.

In three preseason games so far, Jensen has a goal and two assists and is averaging 15:57 time on ice. Schroeder has played every night in five of the six games, registering a goal an two assists and averaging 14:03 time on ice.

The Canucks and Sharks have met once already this preseason in Vancouver, where the Sharks dressed a much more experience team and took home a 4-3 victory. In that game, Alexander Sulzer, Cody Hodgson, and Nolan Baumgartner scored for the Canucks.

The Sharks haven't seen action since playing the Canucks on September 25th and hope to continue their winning ways in the preseason. They are one of two teams yet to record a loss - Pittsburgh is the other team.
