Ducks still in search of first win against Canucks

CANUCKS (1-0-1) at DUCKS (0-3-0)

TV:  TSN; Fox Sports-Prime Ticket.

Season Series: This is the first of four meetings between the teams. Each team won twice in 2009-10, with Anaheim winning the first two contests before Vancouver bounced back to win the last two.

Big Story: Anaheim returns home following a very rough first three games on the road, all losses that saw the Ducks get outscored 13-2. Bad news followed the Ducks home when they found out Tuesday that defenseman Andy Sutton will miss the next 6-8 weeks after undergoing thumb surgery. With Sutton out, the Ducks signed Andreas Lilja to a one-year deal.

"It's only three games," forward Corey Perry said. "There's 79 more to go. But it's tough to start the season 0-3."

Team Scope:

Canucks: After a shootout loss against Los Angeles in its season opener Saturday night, Vancouver earned its first win of the 2010-11 campaign Monday night with a 2-1 victory against the Florida Panthers. Daniel Sedin scored both goals for the Canucks, while Roberto Luongo was sensational in a 41-save performance. He's now stopped 72 of the first 74 shots he's faced.

"I'm not going to lie, it's nice to get off on the right foot," Luongo said. "But it's a long year. You want to be consistent as much as possible and there's always going to be ups and downs, but you want to stay as consistent as possible."

Ducks: Anaheim must be thrilled to be home after a disastrous three-game road trip to start the season with losses in Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis. On Monday, they allowed two goals in a span of six seconds during a 5-1 loss to the Blues.

"Obviously, the sun is going to come up tomorrow --we hope," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "What you have to do is take a self-analysis of what we can do better. There's lots of areas for us to improve in as a team."

Who's Hot: With his two goals Monday night, Daniel Sedin is tied with twin brother Henrik Sedin for the Canucks' lead in points (3), while Luongo has a .973 save percentage. … Saku Koivu has scored both of Anaheim's goals this season.

Injury Report: Canucks forward Rick Rypien (rib) is expected to make his season debut Wednesday night, while Alexandre Bolduc is out with an ankle injury. Alex Burrows is still recovering from shoulder surgery, while Sami Salo is out until at least December with a torn ACL. … Besides Sutton, the Ducks are also without defenseman Toni Lydman (double vision) and forward Joffrey Lupul (blood infection).

Stat Pack: Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler, the team's first-round pick (No. 12) at this year's Entry Draft, played a team-high 25:22 on Monday against St. Louis. He has one assist and leads the Ducks with six blocked shots.

Puck Drop: "It's a process. We have some new faces in the room. It's obviously not the way we wanted to start (the season). You want to start out well." -- Ducks forward Jason Blake
