PANTHERS (0-1-0) at CANUCKS (0-0-1)

TV: Fox Sports-Florida; Sportsnet-Pacific.

Season Series: This will be the lone meeting between the teams. Vancouver earned a 3-0 win against Florida on Feb. 11 at the BankAtlantic Center. Ex-Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo made 31 saves for the shutout.

Big Story: Both teams enter Monday's action without a victory. Vancouver lost in a shootout against Los Angeles on Saturday night, while the Panthers came up short in their season opener at Edmonton on Sunday.

Team Scope:

Panthers: They tried to rally after falling behind 2-0, but Florida couldn't find the equalizer after Marty Reasoner scored his second goal of the night with 2:09 remaining in a 3-2 loss to the Oilers at Rexall Place.

"We played the way that we wanted to in the first period," Reasoner said. "It could have been 2- or 3-0 for us early, and we just didn't capitalize on all the chances. It's a little bit frustrating, but we did like the way that we played for the most part. If we play like that and create those kind of chances, we're going to have more success going forward."

Canucks: After coming up short in their season opener on Saturday night in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Arena, the Canucks enter Monday's action still in search of their first victory on home ice. Vancouver held a 1-0 lead until Justin Williams tied the game with just 4:05 remaining in regulation.

"It was a hard-fought game both sides, it came down to a shootout," said Luongo, who finished with 31 saves. "When we get into those types of situations, it can go either way and unfortunately for us tonight, it didn't go our way."

Who's Hot: Reasoner had two goals on two shots Sunday night in Edmonton … Christian Ehrhoff scored Vancouver's lone goal on Saturday night. It came midway through the second period via the power play.

Injury Report: Panthers center Mark Cullen is out after undergoing surgery to repair his ACL on Sept. 21. … Rick Rypien (rib), Alex Burrows (shoulder) and Sami Salo (ACL) are out for the Canucks.

Stat Pack: With their shootout loss to the Kings, the Canucks are now 21-16-3 in season openers. … Newcomer Keith Ballard blocked five shots and played more than 17 minutes.

Puck Drop: "We did what we've been working on for three weeks. We forechecked, we created opportunities, we limited theirs. We played a good game. We executed our game plan. The tough part is you just don't get rewarded for it." -- Florida coach Peter DeBoer after Sunday's 3-2 loss at Edmonton
