While the Vancouver Canucks look to win a season-high fifth straight game, the Dallas Stars will try to rebound from a rare loss.

Hoping to better their positioning in the tight Western Conference playoff race, these two clubs meet Friday night at American Airlines Center.

With 10 points separating fifth from last place in the West, every game is crucial for teams like Vancouver and Dallas. Separated by a point, the two are sixth and seventh, respectively, in the conference.

Vancouver (26-20-8) rallied for three third-period goals to beat Phoenix 4-3 on the road Thursday for its fourth straight victory after losing a season-high eight in a row.

"We have a good feeling right now, and playing with confidence," said forward Henrik Sedin, of the Canucks, who scored four third-period goals to win 6-4 at St. Louis on Tuesday.

Dallas (26-20-7), meanwhile, enters off a 1-0 home loss to the Coyotes on Wednesday. It was the second defeat in nine games for the Stars, who also had their five-game home winning streak snapped.

"You got to learn from it but look at the next game," defenseman Stephane Robidas told the Stars official Web site after the team was shut out for the fourth time this season. "We play Vancouver at home, they're another desperate team. It's not going to be easy."

The Stars won 3-2 in a shootout on Jan. 4 at Vancouver, but the Canucks snapped a seven-game road losing streak with a 4-3 win in Dallas on March 15.

Sedin, Pavol Demitra and Alexander Edler scored while Sami Salo added two assists in the third period Thursday for Vancouver. The Canucks have scored 21 goals in their last four games - one fewer than their total during an 0-5-3 skid from Jan. 9-31.

Demitra has a goal in two straight games and nine points in his last five contests.

Roberto Luongo made 25 saves against Phoenix in his ninth straight start to since returning from a groin injury that sidelined him for nearly two months. He is 4-2-3 with a 3.51 goals-against average in those games, but it's uncertain if the team captain will be in net facing his first back-to-back scenario since returning.

Backup Jason LaBarbera hasn't played since Jan. 13, but he made 34 saves against the Stars last month. LaBarbera is 4-2-1 with a 2.84 GAA versus Dallas.

Dallas' Marty Turco made 33 saves through overtime against the Canucks this season, but he was outplayed by Phoenix's Ilya Bryzgalov on Wednesday. It was the 24th consecutive start for Turco, who broke Cesare Maniago's franchise record set in 1968-69.

"It's disappointing, we're not in the business of looking good with no results, said Turco, who is 9-3-1 with a 2.06 GAA since last losing consecutive starts.

Turco is 16-4-1 with a 1.75 GAA against Vancouver.

Dallas' Mike Modano had a goal with an assist and Mike Ribeiro also scored against Vancouver in the last meeting. Ribeiro has a goal and seven assists in his last six games versus the Canucks.
