Messier has trailed off since his strong start, notching just a few goals in the last few weeks and no assists in over two weeks, the Titans of Acadie-Bathurst have also been dropped from the CHL weekly top 10 rankings.

Analysis: Like most centers from the Q, Messier is a skilled, quick, mobile skater. He slips out of checks with ease and has a terrific scoring touch around the crease. He’s fairly good on the penalty kill thanks to his quickness, but still must improve his defensive capabilities and working on the boards to be versatile in the NHL. He joins a less-than star-studded Acadie-Bathurst team and if he performs well could win up being a standout offensive threat. He can be an NHL supporting scorer if he continues to play smart hockey in his own end and lights the lamp.

Scout Update: The enigmatic Messier was traded recently for the second time in the year, this time in exchange for a second round selection to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. The move can only help Messier, who was getting lost in the depth down the middle that the titan had. Chicoutimi is a stronger team than Acadie-Bathurst was, and should provide Messier with all the opportunity he deserves to be a key offensive contributor, as they obviously filled a need in acquiring him.
