Shirokov is far off last year’s torrid pace, his assists are close to the same, but his goal pace has dropped almost in half. Despite CSKA being near the top of the league more should be expected after last season’s breakthrough.Analysis: Shirokov was a late-round steal. He possesses amazing vision, smarts, and playmaking ability, and can improve the play of everyone around him. He's had great showings at international tournaments and is a leader on his Men’s team as one of the youngest on the roster. He is one of the most NHL-ready prospects in Russia, but is still a year away at least before transferring. He has the ability and skill-package to be a top-six forward, if he chooses to come over to North America.
Scout Update: The shifty Russian is off last year’s pace, though on a less talented team. Most players go through a sophomore slump after their break through year even in the NHL, so the dip in production should not be seen as a problem, just a minor bump in the road.
