Roberto’s nickname is Louie…His favorite player growing up was Grant Fuhr…In the off-season he lives in Montreal and Florida…Roberto founded his own charity called Louie Saves Lives…His brother Fabio is a goalie in the Ontario Hockey League…Roberto and his wife Gina live in Florida during the off-season…Before the game he likes to sit in the stands and tape his stick…He also likes to play poker, golf and watch movies…Roberto’s first job was selling shoes in his father’s shoe store.
Luongo is involved in a number of charitable initiatives in Vancouver, including hosting Lui’s Crease Club (a suite for children that would not otherwise get to watch a game live) and doing PSA s for Canuck Place…He is trilingual, fluent in English, French and Italian…Grew up in the Montreal borough of St. Leonard, only four blocks from where Martin Brodeur was raised…In 2009, a rink in St. Leonard was named after Luongo.
