Dorothy Chausse is the Ticketing Administrator for the Event Sales & Booking Department at Rogers Arena. She also assists with the booking of non-Canuck related public events. Dorothy’s general responsibilities include (but are not limited to): administrating the ticketing and set-up information for concerts that happen at Rogers Arena from the promoter, Ticketmaster & the Event Manager and keeping the booking calendar up to date. She is also the contact for On-Site Public Relations on concert days at Rogers Arena. Other duties include administrating the information posted within the arena in the elevators and outside the arena on the digital signage boards, ensuring that all information is correct and up to date.
Dorothy is also the Public Relations contact for events at Rogers Arena when a concert promoter needs local assistance with sending out Press Releases announcing their events, as well as assistance in promotions and marketing for their event from the ticket on-sale date all the way through to show day.
DAY TO DAY
Dorothy’s typical show day has her assisting the box office, the event manager and the promoter with any last minute needs or requests pertaining to ticketing and media/marketing for the concert. On select show nights, Dorothy is responsible for corresponding with the promoter or tour publicist in regards to escorting Media Photographers into the venue prior to the main artist beginning their show. She is also responsible for keeping a close watch on the media as they work, and ensuring that they are following the restrictions that have been imposed. She will then escort them from the venue once their assignment is completed.
WHAT IT TAKES
Dorothy began her career working for Ticketmaster at BC Place, which enabled her to gain the knowledge and experience needed to move forward in her career by becoming the Box Office Manager for the Vancouver Grizzlies and for Concert Events at General Motors Place. She has worked at the Arena since 1995 and has had many roles at the Arena including Ticketing/Marketing Manager for Live Nation Canada and now coming full circle as a Vancouver Canucks employee in 2010 in her current position. These jobs have allowed her to develop many professional relationships throughout BC, Canada and the US, including concert promotion companies such as Live Nation and AEG.
Dorothy is grateful for the many work opportunities that have come her way over her career and she is extremely proud to be working for the Vancouver Canucks organization, who she considers to be an exemplary employer that creates a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for their employees in all aspects of their work and personal lives.
Dorothy’s advice to anyone interested in pursuing a similar career is “to be as positive as you can be in all aspects of yourself both personally and professionally. Work hard and be confident, flexible and face all challenges head on with a positive attitude and a sense of humour.”
