Karen Christiansen

Director, Charitable, & Corporate Events

As the Director of Charitable & Corporate Events, Karen Christiansen is responsible for creating and executing fan, sponsor and charitable partner engagement opportunities through special events for Canucks Sports & Entertainment and the Canucks for Kids Fund. She is responsible for creating and executing charitable fundraising events such as: the Jake Milford Canucks Charity Invitational, Canucks for Kids Fund Superskills, Dice & Ice and the Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon. She also provides direction and oversees the production elements of all corporate events, such as the State of the Franchise, Open Practice, and all special events held for Season Ticket and Suite Holders.

A CIS Academic All-Canadian and former Captain of the University of Alberta Pandas Basketball team, Christiansen graduated from the University of Alberta in 1995 with a degree in Political Science. She then completed an accelerated diploma in Public Relations from Grant MacEwan University in 1996.

Christiansen began employment with Canucks Sports & Entertainment in 1996 as the Coordinator of Game Presentation and Events. In 2003, she was awarded “The Stanley” for Outstanding Game Presentation, selected by the NHL’s Game Presentation Directors. Through the years Christiansen progressed into more senior positions within the company, landing in her current role in 2008.

Christiansen’s most memorable moments with the organization include the visit of Queen Elizabeth II, the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, and the jersey retirements of Trevor Linden and Markus Naslund. She enjoys attending the CSE boot camp and spending time with her family.
