
In his role as Director of Engineering, Al Hutchings is responsible for the physical plant of Rogers Arena. This includes the building structure and surrounding property, all mechanical and electrical systems, and the installation and removal of the ice, game surface and in-arena boards to convert the building for various event layouts. He is also responsible for maintaining the ice surface to ensure it meets NHL standards.
Hutchings joined Canucks Sports & Entertainment after an extensive 25 years in the construction industry. He began with the organization as the Superintendent for the electrical construction of Rogers Arena, then worked as a resident electrician for four years, after which he moved into his current role.
Hutchings has coached various lacrosse and soccer teams at all levels for over 25 years, and enjoys fly-fishing in his spare time.
