Why are games on PPV?
This season, there are 15 games on CBC, 10 on TSN and 45 games on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific, for a total of 70 of our 82 games. The 12 games carried on PPV are made available, as they would not otherwise be shown on local television. So, PPV broadcasts give fans the chance to see every game, rather than games being left untelevised. Why do you charge fans to see the games?
Unlike game broadcast on conventional TV (CBC/Sportsnet), PPV broadcasts are not sold to rightsholders and are commercial free so offsetting the costs of production cannot be achieved through sponsorship dollars or broadcast rights fees. How can I order PPV?
To order the full package, you will need to contact your digital cable or satellite provider (view carriers). To order individual games, you can simply use your remote control and on-screen menu. Are the CanucksTV PPV games included in the NHL Centre Ice Package?
No, not in BC/Yukon. NHLCI is designed to bring fans “out of market” games. Local broadcasts (not sold to a rightsholder), including our PPV, are not a part of that package and must be purchased separately. How can I provide feedback on the PPV broadcasts?
Please visit the Canucks TV Feedback page.Where can I watch the PPV games?
A complete list of pubs/restaurants and/or Theatre locations (if available) can be found on canucks.com, under pub listings. Locations are listed by city, for your convenience. How do you choose the games that are on PPV?
Producing a broadcast schedule where every game is available takes a lot of juggling. We need to avoid contractual/exclusivity restrictions with the National carriers (i.e. no Saturdays due to HNIC or TSN Wed. nights), as well as work around Sportsnet’s programming commitments (such as MLB, NFL).We also share a PPV channel on Shaw/Starchoice, with Flames & Oilers so we cannot broadcast PPV games simultaneously. With all of this, we aren’t necessarily able to choose the games for PPV, and these challenges dictate what games are on our PPV schedule.
