The Vancouver Canucks will try to win five straight games for the first time this season tonight when they host a rare visit from the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena.

There may not be a whole lot of history between the Canucks and Hurricanes but there should still be plenty of emotion in the building tonight when these two teams conclude their season series. For starters, this game marks the game ex-Canuck Manny Malhotra will play at Rogers Arena since he last donned a Canucks jersey back on February 9. It's also the second time in nine days that these teams will meet after Vancouver knocked off Carolina 3-2 back on December 1 to begin their current stretch of four straight victories.

The Hurricanes, for their part, have bounced back quite nicely since dropping that decision to the Canucks eight days ago winning their last three in a row including beating a very tough Sharks team by a 5-3 score on Friday. With the Canucks playing their second game in consecutive nights, don't be surprised if Eddie Lack gets the call between the pipes tonight. Lack made 29 saves on 31 shots in that December 1 win over the Hurricanes.

Puck drop at 7 pm PT - Live on Sportsnet Pacific, The TEAM 1040, or online at teamradio.ca.

Keys to the Game

Get pumped for Eddie. Should Lack get the start tonight as has been the case for the most part in the second game of back-to-backs, it would mark the first home start of his young NHL career. The Canucks ought to be able to find a little extra motivation to ensure Eddie's home debut is a successful one.

Expect a different Canes team. The Canucks can't expect tonight's Canes team to be the same one they beat 3-2 eight days ago. Since that meeting, the Canes have found their scoring touch and should prove a much tougher test tonight.

The captain keeps leading by example. Eric Staal has been red hot of late. He brings a four-game point streak into the game and has points in 11 of his last 12 outings. He'll need to be the straw that stirs the offence for his club again tonight.
