Vancouver Canucks

As was announced this morning through @VanCanucks, Cory Schneider is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Joe Cannata has been re-called from the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

More information regarding Schneider will be available later Wednesday, but here’s what we know about Cannata: Vancouver’s sixth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft just finished his first full season of professional hockey, appearing in 21 games split between the Chicago Wolves of the AHL and the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL.

Cannata played largely in a back-up role for the Wolves, registering a 6-6-0 record, alongside a 2.65 goals-against-average with a .912 save percentage.

The Wakefield, Massachusetts, native began his first professional season with Kalamazoo where he played in seven games earning three wins before being called up to the Wolves.

Cannata played four seasons at Merrimack College in the NCAA where he established school records in almost all goaltending categories, including career wins (59), career GAA (2.47), career save percentage (.925) and games played for a goaltender (122). In his final year with Merrimack, Cannata was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in NCAA hockey.
