The Goods: L.A. awe

Sometimes one goal is all it takes.

Cory Schneider was in the zone Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles stopping all 20 shots faced as the Vancouver Canucks dethroned the Kings 1-0 at Staples Center.

Schneider's sixth career shutout, and his second in 17 games this season, saw him face eight shots in the first period; he made some big saves early on, which led to offence at the other end of the ice.

Jordan Schroeder fed Mason Raymond up the middle with a brilliant pass to spring the speedster on a breakaway midway through the first, and Raymond made no mistake about it putting the Canucks up 1-0 with his eighth goal of the year.

From there it was all Schneider, who had five saves in the second period and another seven in the third to finish with 20, and, more importantly, two points for the Canucks, who are 2-0-0 on their current three-game road trip.

Vancouver is in action Sunday in Colorado against the Avalanche.

Jory's Jewels

Tweet of the Afternoon - "If the #Canucks ever do sign an Amish player named "Brother Henrik", Sportnets commentators will be screwed!!" - @HockeyWest. Hilarious - yes. Random - yes. Tweet of the Night - oh yes.
This and that - Alex Edler served the first of his two game suspension Saturday; Jannik Hansen assisted on Mason Raymond's goal giving him 12 points in his last 12 games; Cory Schneider has shutout the opposition in seven of his last nine periods.
Gleeful - How big of a Canucks fan is Glee star Cory Monteith? See for yourself: http://bit.ly/168P3hR.
@patersonjeff's Food for Thought - "Ryan Kesler's first year in #NHL, got into 28 games. Had 2+3=5. Schroeder playing 26th game today. Has 3+5=8 #Canucks."
