Wolves This Week: Mar. 5 - Mar. 12
Jensen returns, while Ebbett and Archibald go streaking in a busy week for the Chicago Wolves.

The Chicago Wolves were busy this past week, playing four games including three in less than three days, but managed to pick up five of a possible eight points to stay in the playoff picture where they now sit sixth in the AHL’s Western Conference with 66 points.

Ty-Bits

-Bill Sweatt, who also had an assist in the game, scored the 5000th goal in Wolves franchise history in Tuesday’s win over Texas.

-Darren Archibald snapped a 19-game goalless drought with his seventh tally of the season on Tuesday.

-The Wolves scored three goals in a span of 4:26 on Tuesday.

-Prior to Friday’s game, the Wolves assigned Canucks prospect Alex Mallet to the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) and recalled goaltender Joe Cannata.

-The Wolves surrendered three, third period goals on Friday night, marking the fourth time this season the Wolves have lost in regulation when leading after 40 minutes, the second time to Milwaukee.

-Andrew Gordon returned from an injury on Saturday night that had sidelined him for eight games and promptly notched a power-play marker in his return.

-Canucks 2011 first-round selection, Nicklas Jensen made his AHL season-debut after his Swedish Elite League season came to an end earlier in the week. The Denmark native will wear number 36 for the Wolves.

-The Wolves wore their special St. Patrick’s Day jerseys on Saturday night in front of 13,510 fans at Allstate Arena.

-Goaltender Matt Climie, made his 13th consecutive start in net for the Wolves on Saturday, which ties a franchise record.

-Andrew Ebbett extended his point-streak to 10 games (16 points) on Saturday night with a goal and an assist. The streak came to an end on Sunday as Ebbett was held off the score sheet.

-Joe Cannata made his first start for the Wolves in over a month on Sunday afternoon, making 36 saves for the victory and was named First Star of the game. The Canucks prospect now is 6-3-0 on the year with a 2.18 GAA and .925 SV%

-Darren Archibald extended his point-streak to four games with a helper on Sunday. The Newmarket, Ontario native has collected five points (2-3-5) on the streak.

Wolf of the Week

Darren Archibald was red-hot when he was first recalled to the Wolves at the start of the season, but cooled off a bit mid-season. The power-forward seems to have found his game again as of late, posting points in all four games this past week, finishing with five points. Archibald has picked up six points (3-3-6) in six games this month along with a plus-4 rating and nine shots on goal. The six-foot-three, 215-pounder has posted 16 points (9-7-6) in 36 games with the Wolves this season.


Coming Up…


Wednesday, March 13 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins
It will be meeting six-of-eight on the year between the Wolves and Midwest Division rivals, the Grand Rapids Griffins (35-19-2-2). The Griffins have taken all five previous meeting this season, winning twice in overtime and once in regulation.

Friday, March 15 vs. Rockford IceHogs
The Wolves travel to Rockford to take on their biggest rivals, the Rockford IceHogs (Chicago Blackhawks, 30-27-1-1), on Friday night. This will be meeting 10-of-12 on the year, the Wolves have won six of the previous nine meetings thus far.

Sunday, March 17 vs. Rockford IceHogs
Forty-eight hours after doing battle in Rockford, the Wolves and IceHogs meet again, this time at Allstate Arena in Chicago.
