Canucks to Honour Canadian Armed Forces

Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they will honour the Canadian Armed Forces this Thursday, March 14th when they host the Nashville Predators at Rogers Arena. This marks the Vancouver Canucks seventh annual Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation night held where men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces are honoured for their dedication and professionalism while serving their country.

Loyal Canucks season ticket holders have shown their generosity and support for our Canadian Armed Forces by donating their game tickets for Thursday’s game. More than 110 donated tickets will be distributed to the Canadian Forces prior to the game on Thursday night.

"It is wonderful to note that this is the seventh year that the Canadian Armed Forces is being honoured in this way by the Canucks and their fans, and I want to relay my sincere appreciation to them for showing the men and women in uniform that they care,” said General Tom Lawson, the Chief of the Defence Staff. "On behalf of all our sailors, soldiers, airmen and airwomen who are serving Canada across our great country and around the world, I thank the Canucks and their season ticket holders for their tremendous and continuing support."

Prior to the start of the game, Canadian Armed Forces Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Lawson, will take part in a ceremonial puck drop, along with a deserving Canadian Armed Forces member.

The National Anthem will be performed by the Band of the 15th Field Regiment, alongside the Flag Party from 39 Canadian Brigade Group, the Army in B.C.

Fans are also encouraged to visit the MFRC (Military Family Resources Centre) “Support Our Troops” merchandise tables, located throughout the concourses of Rogers Arena.
