The Goods: Flame out
Flame out
The weather outside was frightful, the game inside wasn't much better.
The Vancouver Canucks, who arrived in Calgary two hours prior to puck drop because of heavy snowfall, lost 4-2 to the Flames Sunday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The travel weary Canucks opened the scoring 7:49 into the first period when Jannik Hansen set Chris Higgins up for a breakaway; he went in alone on Daniel Taylor and buried his sixth goal of the season.
Mike Cammalleri tied the game up at 1-1 before the end of the first period and the teams traded goals again in the second. Hansen netted his fifth goal of the season to give Vancouver a short-lived 2-1 lead as Lee Stempniak knotted the game up again less than four minutes later.
In the third, the Canucks, playing in the backend of a weekend doubleheader, took their foot off the gas and the Flames took advantage scoring two goals, one into an empty net, to hand Vancouver its first regulation loss to a Northwest Division opponent this season.
