Canucks Rise To Power

Coming off a four day break the Canucks looked well rested knocking off the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 in a spirited game at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Dan Hamhuis one-timed a perfect Alex Burrows backhand pass completing a classic Sedin cycle shift just 3:43 in.

After the Kings tied it up at 1-1 on a power-play tally from Justin Williams, Mason Raymond fired a wrist shot over Jonathan Quick's shoulder to restore the lead at 10:32 of the second period. David Booth assisted on the goal for his first point of the season.

Just under thee minutes later the Kings knotted it up at 2-2 when Jordan Nolan wrapped the puck into an empty following a Cory Schneider misplay.

Schneider's teammates were quick to pick him up. Daniel Sedin slapped past Quick for his 8th of the season on a two-on-one with his brother Henrik. Jannik Hansen made it 4-2 sniping the top corner with just under two minutes remainging in the second period.

Chris Higgins added an empty-netter for his 5th of the season and giving him points in three straight games.

Tom Sestito made his Canucks debut and wasted no time making new fans. On his second shift of the game the Sestito dropped the mitts with Jordan Nolan receiving a standing ovation from the Vancouver crowd.

The Canucks are right back at it tomorrow night as they face travel to Calgary to face the Flames.
