The Goods: Canucks fall to Wings
Canucks clobbered by Red Wings
The end of a long road trip resulted in a long night for the Vancouver Canucks.
The Canucks suffered an 8-3 TKO to the Detroit Red Wings Sunday evening at Joe Louis Arena to wrap up a four-game road trip with their only regulation loss of the trek, and only their second of February.
Daniel Sedin opened the scoring 5:45 into the first period before the Red Wings replied with a pair of goals to ignite the crowd. Trailing 2-1 with just over seven minutes remaining in the opening frame, Daniel Sedin and Chris Higgins found the back of the net for the Canucks to take a 3-2 lead into the break.
It was all downhill for Vancouver from that point on.
In the second, Detroit came at Vancouver with all its might scoring three power play goals on four opportunities to take a 5-3 lead; the Red Wings added a trio of goals to the scoreboard in the third to clobber the Canucks 8-3.
Roberto Luongo, coming off his second shutout of the season, allowed all eight goals finishing with 20 saves in his first regulation loss of the season.
