The Goods: Canucks clipped by Kings
Late goal sinks Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks gave up a goal with 44 seconds remaining in the third period and the Los Angeles Kings scored the lone shootout goal to steal a point Monday night at the Staples Center, winning 3-2.
Zack Kassian scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season, assisted by Alex Edler and Dan Hamhuis, late in the first period and Alex Burrows found the back of the net for the second consecutive game early in the second. Just like that it was 2-0, a lead the Canucks are beginning to despise now having blown three this season.
Jeff Carter made it a 2-1 game on the power play with under five minutes to play in the second frame and in the dying seconds of the third, with the Kings net empty, Slava Voynov forced the shootout.
Burrows, Edler and Kassian were all stopped by Jonathan Quick, while Roberto Luongo, who made 26 saves on the night, was beat just the once.
