Lack blog: Mr. Dressup
Patroclus, put down your spear…
Sorry, we had our Wolves Halloween party last night and I’m still in character. I dressed as a Spartan from the movie Troy. I was walking around the Halloween store and I didn’t really know what to be; I tried on the Batman suit, but it didn’t really fit that good. Then I saw the Spartan costume hanging from the ceiling and knew I had to get it.
I wanted to look like Brad Pitt from Troy – that’s at least what I was aiming for, I don’t know if I succeeded!
We all went bowling last night and had a nice dinner after, it was good times.
I’ve been dressing up a lot of lately, actually. I was Harvey Two-Face on Sunday for another get together and I was looking a lot like Waldo one day last week, but it wasn’t really on purpose. He just dresses well, I guess.
It’s fun making such a big deal of Halloween, we had it when I was a kid in Sweden, but we didn’t really celebrate it like you guys do here. When you’re a kid you dress up, but not when you get older; this is all still kind of new to me that way, it’s only the second year I’ve done this. Last year I was a prisoner. This year I took no prisoners.
I also got dressed up last week for the Justin Bieber concert – yep, I went to see the Bieb show. My girlfriend’s friend made me a shirt for Carly Rae Jepsen that said: Carly - I've never met you, and this is crazy, but you RT'd me once, please do it daily! I tweeted something this summer, I don’t remember what it said, but she retweeted it.
I’d give the concert 7 out of 10 stars. The guy puts on a great show, I can’t say anything bad about it. I didn’t really know half of the songs, but it was really cool. I haven’t been to a lot of concerts in my life, so it was a lot of fun.
Staying with the dress up theme of today's blog, I dressed as a goalie twice this past weekend: we beat San Antonio 6-5 and lost to Grand Rapids 3-2 in overtime.
I played with my new pads, the Lack Ness Monsters, this weekend. Eight goals in two games isn’t really what I was looking for, but I felt pretty good out there. I got a lot of good responses about them too, I just have to make sure the pads know I want them to stop the puck.
Sometimes games are just high scoring, like the 6-5 win on Saturday. That night it was me against Jacob Markstrom, who I am good friends with and was back-up to in Sweden. It wasn’t really the game him or I wanted with 11 goals against, but I was really happy to come out with the win, I honestly think that was the first time I’ve beat him and we’ve played against each other a couple of times, so it was fun.
Now if we can figure out these pesky third periods, the season will be a lot more fun too. We played a good third period Sunday, so hopefully we can put those troubles behind us now.
That’s all the news I’ve got for you today. I won’t bring up Eddies Meatballs, my fantasy football team, because I’ve lost two straight games. I might have a talk with the guys, we need to come together here as a group. I don’t want to bench RGIII to send a message, but I might have to!
Happy Halloween!
Eddie
