The Canucks Centre For BC Hockey and the Vancouver Canucks handed out their annual Silver Skate Awards at the BC Hockey AGM this past weekend. The Canucks Silver Skate Award is awarded to BC Hockey minor hockey teams or associations that have shown team work, perseverance, and hard work throughout the 2011 - 2012 season.

In attendance at this year’s AGM was Dave Babych, Vancouver Canucks Alumni and Defense consultant, Rod Brathwaite, Manager of the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey and BC Hockey President Shannon Bell, who all said a few words of congratulations to all the winning teams and associations. For the first time in its seven year existence a whole minor hockey team was on hand to receive their award. The Whistler Tier 3 Pee Wee Hawks made their way on stage to receive their award with overwhelming applause from the attending audience, and the Whistler players and coaches were grinning from ear to ear a real special time for those players and coaches.

A special thanks must go out to Blair Peden and his staff who put together some great keepsakes for the winning teams and associations, BC Hockey and their staff for coordinating another great luncheon, and Dave Babych who was hand to present the awards. View the photo gallery
