Canucks host 22nd annual Canucks for Kids Fund telethon March 8

PrintVANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks will hold their 22nd annual Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon, presented by Chevrolet, on Thursday, March 8th at Rogers Arena with all proceeds supporting the Canucks for Kids Fund.
The Telethon airs on the TEAM 1040 Sports Radio from Noon until Midnight, and on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific during the game broadcast versus the Winnipeg Jets from 6:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Telethon broadcast, hosted by Rogers Sportsnet personalities Don Taylor, Craig MacEwen and Canucks alumnus Trevor Linden, will feature numerous stories highlighting the special bond between the children of British Columbia and Canucks players, coaches, staff and alumni.
Canucks wives, significant others, sponsor partners, Canucks for Kids Fund Directors and volunteers will be taking donations by phone at 1-85-KIDSFUND (1-855-437-3863) on the celebrity panel on March 8th. Donations will also be accepted at the game, where volunteers will collect contributions during the latter half of the first period in the bowl. Fans can also go to Canucks.com to donate online.
All Telethon donors who give $100 will receive an exclusive “Western Conference Champions” photograph, featuring Alex Burrows and Kevin Bieksa celebrating the Canucks Game 5 double overtime victory over the San Jose Sharks to win the Western Conference Final. For donations of $150 or more, donors will receive the “Western Conference Champions” photograph and a commemorative “Canucks in the City” photo, featuring Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Roberto Luongo, Ryan Kesler, Sami Salo, Manny Malhotra and Kevin Bieksa. All who enter by midnight on March 8th will have a chance to win a 2012 Chevrolet Orlando (contest details on Canucks.com). The Canucks for Kids Fund gratefully acknowledges the support of Chevrolet, Rogers, Grimm’s, Rogers Sportsnet Pacific, Team 1040 and the Vancouver Sun.
Rogers Sportsnet’s broadcast of the March 8th game and Telethon will also be streamed online at Canucks.com. Fans can watch the live broadcast on Canucks.com, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
The Canucks for Kids Fund (CFKF) is in its 26th year of giving back to children’s charities in British Columbia and has given more than $36 million in that span. During the 2010.11 season, the Canucks for Kids Fund donated more than $4.4 million. The Canucks for Kids Fund is dedicated to supporting children’s charities in our province and has played a key role in the creation and sustaining of Canucks Autism Network, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, CFEC, the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey and a number of educational programs.
