Vancouver Canucks statement on passing of Barry Wilkins
Vancouver, B.C. – It is with deep regret that the Vancouver Canucks learned of the passing of former Vancouver Canuck Barry Wilkins. He passed away of lung cancer on Sunday, June 26.
“We are saddened by the recent news and on behalf of the entire Vancouver Canucks organization, I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to Barry’s family,” said Canucks President and General Manager, Mike Gillis. “Barry will always be remembered by Canucks fans for scoring the team’s inaugural goal in the NHL. It was a great privilege to have spent time and honored Barry for his role with the team as part of our 40th celebration this year. He will be greatly missed by the Canuck family.”
In honour of Wilkins tenure with the team, a highlight video, featuring one of his last interviews with Canucks TV can be found on Canucks.com.
