Canucks mascot Fin to celebrate 10th birthday
Vancouver, B.C. – Canucks Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce that FIN, the official mascot of the Vancouver Canucks, will be celebrating a milestone birthday on June 4, 2011. The Orca whale mascot will be turning 10 on Saturday. FIN was introduced in the spring of 2001 at Canuck Place, a hospice that offers specialized care for BC children living with life-threatening conditions.
FIN makes regular appearances at Canucks games, in the community, and most importantly supporting the many community-based initiatives by the Canucks through the Canucks for Kids Fund.
In addition to numerous community appearances, FIN also participates in a school program, FIN’s Friends. Established in 2006, FIN’s Friends is a character education program that is in every school district in British Columbia. The Fin’s Friends curriculum emphasizes character education by teaching virtues of social responsibility, such as kindness, compassion, and fairness. Primary grades including French immersion is accessible for free to teachers across the Province. The Fin’s Friends program has reached out to almost 60,000 students over the last five years.
As he has for each of his 10 years with the Canucks, FIN celebrated his birthday with children from Canuck Place in a private function on Friday, June 3. The milestone birthday will also see FIN celebrate his special day at Party On the Plaza with Canuck fans prior to Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 4. Party On the Plaza, presented by Canadian Tire, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday with a special presentation for FIN beginning at 3:30 PM including a birthday cake provided by Save-On-Foods.

- Appeared at 369 regular season games
- 6 All-star Games (2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011)
- Will make his 9th consecutive appearance at the Annual Celebrity Mascot Games in Orlando, Florida this July
