Canucks Report: Lineup Notes and Injury Updates

LINEUP NOTES AND INJURY UPDATES
By Nolan Kelly
You’re forgiven if you can’t keep track of the Canucks line combinations lately. Between emergency call ups, babies being born, and a few lingering injuries the Canucks lineup has featured a few different looks recently.
The latest casualty, forward Mikael Samuelsson, missed practice this morning and will likely be out of tomorrow night’s game against the Red Wings with a lower body injury. The Canucks have recalled Victor Oreskovich in an emergency capacity.
Expect Oreskovich to play on the 4th line with recent call up Alexandre Bolduc.
With the injury to Malhotra, Bolduc may have a chance to regain his position as the team’s fourth line centre.
“When Bolduc played for us initially he did some good things, he was coming along, and unfortunately twice he got hurt,” said Coach Vigneault. “If he can stay healthy, with his size and the way he can skate I think he can help us on that line and we’ll give him an opportunity to do it.”
Most likely, one of Jeff Tambellini or Mason Raymond will move up to play with Chris Higgins and Ryan Kesler on the 2nd line, while the other will suit up on the 4th line.
Kevin Bieksa, who has missed the last 15 games with a foot fracture, practiced with the team again this morning and will likely play against the Wings. His return means that one of Aaron Rome or Chris Tanev will not dress tomorrow.
“I haven’t talked to Kevin yet,” said Coach Vigneault. “I’m going to talk to him again tomorrow morning, but, again from what I saw on the ice today, he looks fine, so I’ll talk to him tomorrow and we’ll go from there.”
During the morning’s skate, Bieksa was paired with his usual defense partner Dan Hamhuis. Christian Ehrhoff skated with Sami Salo, while Aaron Rome and Chris Tanev alternated pairing with Keith Ballard.
Daniel Sedin, whose wife gave birth to their third child this morning, is on his way to Detroit and will play tomorrow night.
ORESKOVICH RECALLED
Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that right wing Victor Oreskovich has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.
Oreskovich, 24, has split the season between the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose in 2010.11. The Whitby, Ontario native made his debut with Vancouver this season, appearing in ten games and recording one assist and four penalty minutes.
He has also collected 12 points (4-8-12) and 38 penalty minutes in 40 games with Manitoba.
