Canucks host 21st annual Telethon March 16th
VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks will hold their 21st annual Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon, presented by Chevrolet, on Wednesday, March 16th at Rogers Arena with all proceeds supporting the Canucks Autism Network and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
The Telethon airs on the TEAM 1040 Sports Radio from Noon until Midnight, and on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific during the game broadcast versus the Colorado Avalanche from 6:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Telethon broadcast, hosted by Rogers Sportsnet personalities Don Taylor, Craig MacEwen and Canucks TV reporter Kristin Reid, will feature numerous stories highlighting the special bond between the children of British Columbia and Canucks players, coaches, staff and alumni.
Canucks wives, significant others, sponsor partners, Canucks for Kids Fund Directors and volunteers will be taking donations by phone at 1-85-KIDSFUND (1-855-437-3863) on the celebrity panel on March 16th. Donations will also be accepted at the game, where volunteers will collect contributions during the latter half of the first period in the bowl. Fans can also visit Canucks.com to donate online.
All Telethon donors who give $100 will receive an exclusive “Naslund Retirement Night” photograph, featuring the all-time highest scoring member of the Canucks. For donations of $150 or more, donors will receive the “Naslund Retirement Night” photograph and a commemorative “Five Captains” photo, featuring Orland Kurtenbach, Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund and Henrik Sedin. All who enter by midnight on March 16th may win a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze (contest details on Canucks.com). The Canucks for Kids Fund gratefully acknowledges the support of Chevrolet, Rogers, Grimm’s, Rogers Sportsnet Pacific, Team 1040 and the Vancouver Sun.
Rogers Sportsnet’s broadcast of the March 16th game and Telethon will also be streamed online at Canucks.com. Fans can watch the live broadcast on Canucks.com, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
The Canucks for Kids Fund (CFKF) is in its 25th year of giving back to children’s charities in British Columbia and has given more than $33 million in that span. During the 2009.10 season, the Canucks for Kids Fund donated more than $3.3 million. The Canucks for Kids Fund is dedicated to supporting children’s charities in our province and has played a key role in the creation and sustaining of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, CAN, CFEC, the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey and a number of educational programs.
