CBC Hockey Night in Canada and CBC.ca to broadcast Markus Naslund retirement ceremony
Entire ceremony to air live without interruption on CBC.ca
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks in partnership with CBC Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC) are pleased to announce that the Markus Naslund Retirement Ceremony will air without interruption on December 11th on CBC.ca. The pre-taped ceremony will be aired in its entirety nationwide on HNIC prior to puck-drop at 7:30 pm. The ceremony will take place prior to the Canucks-Tampa Bay Lightning game and begins at 6:10 pm. The celebration will feature a video tribute to Naslund as well as appearances from former teammates, coaches and friends of the iconic Canucks forward.
The night — dedicated to the longtime Captain of the Canucks and one of the franchise’s most prolific forwards — will be highlighted by a pre-game ceremony where Naslund’s number 19 will be retired. Naslund’s number 19 will join Stan Smyl’s number 12 and Trevor Linden’s number 16 in the rafters at Rogers Arena. Smyl’s number 12 was retired to the rafters of the Pacific Coliseum on November 3, 1991, and Linden’s was retired to the rafters of Rogers Arena on December 17, 2008.
The game versus the Lightning will begin on HNIC at 7:30 pm and is preceded by Montreal at Toronto with a 3:30 pm start (Pacific Time). The Canadiens/Maple Leafs game marks HNIC’s first 3D broadcast.
Doors at Rogers Arena will open to the public at 5:00 pm.
