Vancouver Canucks to honour Canadian forces November 21st
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they will honour the Canadian Forces this Sunday, November 21st when they host the Phoenix Coyotes at Rogers Arena. This event just following Remembrance Day will be the fifth Canadian Forces Appreciation event held with the Vancouver Canucks and will honour the men and women of the Canadian Forces for their dedication and professionalism while serving their country.
Loyal Canucks season ticket holders have shown their generosity and support for our Canadian Forces by donating their game tickets for Sunday’s game. In addition, Canucks Sports & Entertainment has donated the Rogers Studio lounge for our Canadian Forces to use as well. More than 210 donated tickets will be distributed to the Canadian Forces prior to the game on Sunday night.
The Canadian Forces night will commence with representatives from the Army, Air Force and Navy including Canadian Forces representative Rear-Admiral Greenwood, Commander Joint Task Force Pacific and Commander Maritime Force Pacific participating in a pre-game ceremonial puck drop. It will be followed by the national anthem performed by Leading Seaman Josee Fortin and the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific, accompanied by the Royal Westminster Regiment Flag Party. This ceremony will be followed by a relay race between the Canadian Forces Rappelers from CFB Comox and members of the Army, Navy and Air Force during the first intermission.
In addition to the on-ice pre-game ceremony, Canadian Forces video announcements will be played throughout the night and members of the Canadian Forces will join the Canucks players for an on-ice photo post-game. Fans will also be able to view a CAV Motorcycle in section 102 of the concourse.
