Tanner Glass Blog: Wedding plans
Tanner Glass gives a player's point of view as he shares stories and insights throughout the season.
I remember that they had a puppy when I was there and now she’s nine years old and they call her an old lady. It was fun to visit and spend a really great night with them.
Their boys, Greg and Loren were just little boys to me then and now Greg of them is married so some things have definitely changed in the household. Because I am recently engaged, I was asking Greg questions about married life and hear his stories.
I proposed to Emily at the end of the season over May long week-end in Tofino. We had a nice weekend planned but the day I decided I would ask her, I organized yoga in the morning and a massage in the afternoon so I think she knew I was going to ask because it’s not that common that I have things planned like that.
We met at Dartmouth in freshman year. She played soccer and I played hockey and the first time I saw her was at the laundry place where all the athletes drop their laundry off and you could say it was love at first sight.
I think she saw me eat a bag of Dad’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies one time and she said that’s what got her. It’s kind of embarrassing that my cookie eating skills are what got her. If someone else comes along and can eat a bigger cookie or a bigger bag of cookies than me, I’d be in trouble.
As far as the wedding planning goes, we bought a wedding magazine shortly after getting engaged and we’re pretty much just following the checklist. Essentially, I just do what she tells me to do and hopefully it stays on track.
We’ve got our venue booked and we’ve set the date for next July in Washington State, where she grew up. Our wedding parties are decided so that’s out of the way as well. Right now, we are in the process of negotiations with a videographer and a photographer. I think once we get the videographer, the band’s next.
I'm sure you'll get more wedding talk through the year so I won't go on too much.
Camp’s been pretty much what I’ve expected. The first day was tough and it was tough for a lot of the guys to get back with a practice like we did but I think it’s a natural progression that everyday gets a little easier and I’ll feel better and better. It’s good to get that first one out of the way and today feels a little bit better. If that pattern continues, tomorrow will feel even better.
