Canucks Report: Day 2
Meeting the staff, the media & the fans
DAY 2: MEETING THE STAFF, THE MEDIA & THE FANS
The second day of Canucks Prospects Camp has arrived and there's no sign of more fitness testing for the players. Thank goodness. It was exhausting just watching them, I can't imagine having to actually do it.
Wednesday is filled with a lot of socializing as between an on-ice workout and gym workout, the players will sit down and break bread with Canucks staff. All of them. Each prospect will sit at a different table and get to know a few things about the business side of the Canucks. Apparently the hot table to get is with the website crew...
Following a leadership presentation after lunch the prospects will be grilled in the form of their first media availability. Everyone and their grandmas will be in the depths of Rogers Arena to get to know the prospects; I'd expect each prospect to at least do one interview, with the big dogs like Jordan Schroeder, Taylor Ellington, Prab Rai and Kevin Connauton, who is also tweeting about his experiences at camp via @VanCanucks.
At 4:30 Group B will be split into two for a practice/scrimmage that season ticket holders are welcome to attend and that you, yes you, can watch live on Canucks.com. For free. You're welcome.
The Summer Summit will wrap the night up starting at 7 p.m. when co-hosts John Shorthouse and Jim Robson kick off an evening chock-full of excitement, including an address from president and general manager Mike Gillis & chief operating officer Victor de Bonis on the team and business direction for the upcoming season, a 40th anniversary announcement featuring special guests and a fan Q&A period with Mike Gillis and team personnel.
A handful of prospects will be making the rounds during the event to meet fans and get to know their passion for the Canucks first hand.
Again, the live streaming of both prospects practice and the Summer Summit begins at 4:30 p.m.
