Canucks Sports & Entertainment and General Motors of Canada Limited announce new sponsor partnership
Vancouver, B.C. - Canucks Sports & Entertainment (Canucks) and General Motors of Canada Limited (General Motors) today announce a new sponsor partnership that will see General Motors focus its activities on in-arena activations to build stronger awareness for its new products and services. As part of this new partnership, the home of the Vancouver Canucks will no longer be known as General Motors Place.
General Motors has been the Arena naming rights partner since the Arena opened in 1995. The next phase of this longstanding partnership between the Canucks and General Motors will see a strong General Motors promotional presence through a range of in-Arena opportunities, including consumer promotions and vehicle test drive opportunities, that will demonstrate the strengths of the Chevrolet vehicle lineup.
General Motors will maintain category exclusivity at the Arena and will engage in promotions that will include rink board advertising, a ‘Canucks vision’ feature, wall murals and other consumer outreach initiatives. In addition, General Motors will proudly continue its longstanding support for the Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon, with a Chevrolet vehicle provided each year to help raise money for this great cause.
“General Motors has been an integral part of our business for many years,” said Victor de Bonis, Chief Operating Officer, Canucks Sports & Entertainment. “Our home Arena has hosted some of the biggest events in the history of our country and we are fortunate that General Motors has been a loyal partner for so long. We are excited about our continuing sponsor partnership that will align with General Motors’ new business priorities.”
“Since 1994, we have enjoyed a strong relationship with Canucks Sports & Entertainment, which has been mutually beneficial in numerous ways,” said Marc Comeau, Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing, General Motors of Canada Limited. “We are very pleased to have established a new arrangement that builds on this valued partnership while aligning with our objective to engage in promotional approaches that more directly demonstrate our great new products, technologies and services to the incredibly loyal fan base that this Arena and team attracts.”
