Canucks Re-sign Aaron Rome

The Canucks have re-signed defenceman Aaron Rome to a two-year deal.

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed defenceman Aaron Rome to a two-year deal. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rome, 26, played in 49 games with Vancouver this year after being acquired via free agency July 2, 2009. He finished his first season with Vancouver registering four points (0-4-4) and 15 penalty minutes. In one playoff game with Vancouver he finished with an even plus/minus rating.

Rome split the 2008-09 season playing eight games for the Columbus Blue Jackets with one assist, and 48 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, where he had 28 points (7-21-28) and 153 penalty minutes. Rome has played 75 career NHL games with Vancouver, Columbus and Anaheim recording seven points (1-6-7) and 57 penalty minutes.

The 6’1”, 218-pound native of Nesbitt, Manitoba was originally drafted by Los Angeles 104th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
