EHRHOFF A STAR

The 2010 World Championships concluded Sunday in Cologne, Germany, as the Czechs upset Russia in a 3-1 final to take the gold medal from the heavy favourites.

Mason Raymond, who represented Canada, and Christian Ehrhoff, representing the host country, Germany didn't return home with medals, finishing the tournament seventh and fourth respectively. This was Raymond's first time representing Canada in international play, while Ehrhoff is seemingly a veteran debuting on the international hockey circuit in 1999 in the under-18 tournament.

In his three games since joining Team Canada, Raymond finished with an assist and playing 14:27 minutes per game.

Ehrhoff joined his country immediately following the Canucks exit from the playoffs and played in six of the nine games in the tournament. Ehrhoff finished with a goal and an assist.

Ehrhoff was named to the World Championships All-Star team, while his teammate, Dennis Endras, who was also named to the All-Star team and selected as the tournament MVP and best goaltender. Petteri Nummelin (FIN) was the other blueliner on the All-Star team. Pavel Datsyuk (RUS), Evgeni Malkin (RUS), Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson (SWE) were the stand-out forwards.

Germany's fourth place finish was the best since 1953 when they won the silver medal, which remains their best result of the tournament. Since 1953, Germany has finished in fifth place six times - their best before this year.
