Canucks sign 2009 draft picks Anton Rodin and Peter Andersson
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have signed 2009 draft picks Anton Rodin and Peter Andersson. In keeping with club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rodin, 19, played in 36 games for Brynas in the Swedish Elite League in 2009.10. The Stockholm, SWE, native also represented Sweden at the World Junior Championships, finishing the tournament in top ten among tournament scorers with 10 points (3-7-10) in six games. The 5’11”, 174 pound forward tied for second on his team in scoring and led his team in game-winning goals (2) to help Sweden capture a bronze medal.
Andersson, 19, spent the 2009-10 season with Vastra Frolunda HC Goteborg. In 21 games, the 6’3”, 194 pound defenceman recorded five points (1-4-5) and four penalty minutes. Andersson was a member of team Sweden’s 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship team, capturing a bronze medal.
