Daniel Sedin: Healthy Hero
Daniel Sedin and the Healthy Heroes Program inspire youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and lower their risk of cancer.
The “Healthy Heroes” program was developed by the BC Cancer Agency to help British Columbians lower their risk of cancer by learning how to make healthy lifestyle choices. Five groups of youth from the Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House were mentored by students from the Capilano University Documentary program and produced five short films about people who inspire them to be active.
11 year old Matthew selected Vancouver Canuck Daniel Sedin as his Healthy Hero, and had the chance to sit down with Daniel to talk about how a healthy lifestyle has been vital to his success.
"It was an honour to be involved with the Healthy Heroes program," said Olympic athlete and Vancouver Canuck forward Daniel Sedin. "As a professional athlete, having a healthy lifestyle is vital to my success. To be able to encourage youth in my community to do the same is very rewarding."
