Canucks Report: Bieksa out with knee injury
Absent from practice was Taylor Pyatt who suffered a bruised foot after blocking a shot in last night’s game. Pyatt is having x-rays and his injury is considered to be day to day. Kyle Wellwood stepped into Pyatt’s place on the second line with Pavol Demitra and Mason Raymond during practice.
The Canucks certainly missed Kevin Bieksa’s physical presence in yesterday’s game. The blueliner is out with a knee injury and is scheduled to undergo a MRI today. Head coach Alain Vigneault said that doctors in Vancouver who examined Bieksa on Sunday believed the defenceman only has a mild sprain of his medial collateral ligament.
Bieksa who missed 47 games last season due to a skate cut to his calf muscle, was placed on the injured reserve list retroactive to Saturday’s 5-4 win against the Calgary Flames. The 27-year-old Canuck who was replaced by Rob Davison in yesterday’s game, is only expected to be sidelined for 7-10 days.
