Canucks reduce roster to 23
Canucks to donate opening night 50/50 proceeds in Luc Bourdon's name
The Vancouver Canucks have narrowed down their roster to 23 players Wednesday afternoon on the eve of the home and season opener Thursday night.

Jason Krog and Matt Pettinger head to Winnipeg after clearing waivers and will report to the Moose of the AHL.

Krog, signed as a free agent over the summer. He had 112 points in 80 game last season with the Chicago Wolves.

Pettinger was acquired at the trade deadline from the Washington Capitals last season, in exchange for Matt Cooke. In 20 games with the Canucks, he scored four goals.

Jeff Cowan, who was placed on waivers Saturday, has been assigned to the Peoria Rivermen, the St. Louis Blues AHL Affiliate.

Cowan was claimed off waivers in December 2006-07 and has had 11 points (7-4-11) in 88 games with the Canucks in two seasons with the team.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Nycholat has been placed on the injured reserve with nagging back problems.

OTHER NEWS: The Vancouver Canucks will unveil the Luc Bourdon wall of dreams Thursday morning at General Motors Place. The wall is a tribute to Bourdon’s life and honours those in minor hockey.

The tribute is a new permanent fixture located in the concourse of GM Place near section 109 through the gate 3 entrance. Fans will be able to view the piece at the Canucks home opener Thursday night.

Game time is 7:30PST, which will feature a pre-game ceremony honouring Bourdon and can be seen live on Canucks.com or on Hockey Night in Canada on CBC.
