BC Hockey President's Award
Like his namesake Trevor Linden, Gulenchyn embraced the idea of helping other children in his province and that generosity was recognized with BC Hockey’s President’s Award. The award, given to Gulenchyn on June 21, 2008 at the BC Hockey Annual General Meeting in Penticton, recognizes a team, league, association, or individual who brings honour to the Amateur Hockey Fraternity through an outstanding humanitarian endeavor.
Vancouver Canucks fan Gulenchyn collected $280.00 in support of the 24/7 care and service Canuck Place offers to 350 children and families throughout B.C. Canuck Place, which, with the support of the Canucks for Kids Fund, opened in 1995 as the first free standing children’s hospice in North America, is now recognized globally as a leader in pediatric palliative care.
“It was the best birthday Trevor had ever had,” Nicole added. “It also raised a lot of awareness in all these kids about giving to others and about thinking outside their own world.”
