Canucks Select Mats Froshaug in the Sixth Round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have selected left wing Mats Froshaug in the sixth round, 161st overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.Froshaug, 19, split the 2007-08 season between Linkoping of the Swedish Elite League, Nykoping of the Swedish AI League and Linkoping of the Junior Elite League. In 35 games played with the Linkoping Junior team, Froshaug recorded 36 points (18-18-36) and 41 penalty minutes. The 6’1”, 198 lbs left wing also represented Norway at the 2008 World Championships and the 2007 World Junior U20 Championships.
Froshaug was born on July 31, 1988 in Norway.
