Vancouver Canucks name Laurence Gilman Director, Hockey Administration

In his 13 years with the Coyotes/Jets organization Gilman had many responsibilities including most recently as the club’s Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager for five seasons. As Senior Vice President & Assistant General Manager for the Coyotes from 2002 to 2007, Gilman worked closely with the club’s General Manager attending to the day-to-day administration of the Coyotes hockey operations department and was involved in all aspects of the on-ice operations of the hockey team.
In addition, Gilman served as general manager of the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' primary developmental affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In this capacity, Gilman oversaw the hockey operations of the Rampage franchise. His duties also included involvement in the development and implementation of the budget for the Coyotes' hockey operations department, negotiation of player contracts, salary arbitration, player transactions, scouting and personnel matters as well as the administration and application of the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Prior to being named the Coyotes Assistant General Manager, Gilman spent three seasons as the team's Director of Hockey Operations. Before that, he served four seasons with the club in various capacities including Director of Hockey Administration and Legal Counsel.
Gilman, 43, graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1991, he then attended the University of North Dakota School of Law. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1994 and was admitted to the State Bar of Minnesota in 1995.
