GM for a day
GM for a Day contest winner Lori Jones shares her experience with canucks.com:

I would personally like to thank all of the people that were involved in making our day so special. I would like to extend a special thanks to the people at Direct Energy for sponsoring such a great contest and the people there that made everything run so smoothly for us. Special thanks as well, to all of the representatives from the Vancouver Canucks Organization. Everyone treated us like royalty!

The following is a brief overview of the day:

The first event of the day was to be an on camera interview answering some questions. That was certainly a learning experience and by the time the next interview came along I was an old hand....sort of! Meeting Mr. Nonis and getting to see his office area was a privilege. He was very gracious and it was a pleasure to chat with him and conduct my "interview" with him. Receiving a team autographed jersey was the icing on the cake.

Next up on the agenda was watching the team skate and more photographs. Then we had a inside tour of GM place. It was great to have all of the access to areas that the general public never gets to see. Going into the broadcast booth was definitely the highlight of the tour for me.

Then we broke for a great lunch at the Player's Chop House Restaurant.

Back to GM place at 5:15 to be escorted to the Sterling Vineyards Room for an absolutely delicious Buffet Dinner and then, of course, escorted to our seats in the GM Box.

Being in that particular area to watch the Vancouver Canucks play was the absolute highlight of the day and something that I will not soon forget. Sneaking a peak of some of the popular media figures and seeing how things worked was fantastic.

Watching a hockey from the "top" was awesome. Mr. Nonis explained to me earlier in the day that I would love it and he was right. It was brilliant. Listening to the GM, his assistant, and the assistant coaches' colorful commentary really added to the "flavour" of the game - it was great fun. Even though our guys didn't come through with a win, it was an absolute thrill for all of us.

Thank you Vancouver Canucks!

Sincerely,

Lori Jones
