Linden receives Telus Community Champion Award
Linden
While Trevor Linden has been a community hero to so many British Columbians for many years, on March 5, 2008 he was officially honoured for it. Linden was the recipient of the first-ever TELUS Community Champion Award, given out at the 42nd annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards.

The recipient of the award was voted for by the people of British Columbia as someone who positively impacts their community and who inspires others to do the same.

The $10,000 award was donated to KidSport BC, one of the many charity organizations supported by Linden and the Vancouver Canucks, in support of young athletes across the province.

Linden, who recently announced his retirement after 19 seasons in the NHL, has long been an active supporter of BC’s children’s charities. Other nominees for the award included Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash and Olympic rower Silken Laumann.
