Print  Canucks photographer Jeff Vinnick joined the team for their four-game road swing through Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Jose, and Edmonton. He's kindly agreed to share a few thoughts, and hopefully and slew of pictures over the next week as he captures action behind the scenes. ANAHEIM, Day Three: It’s game two of four, and it's in the home of the current Stanley Cup champions. It’s hard not to be reminded as our bus pulls up to the Honda Center along the newly named 'Stanley Cup Way.' Just in case any of the guys didn’t already know. Quiet day at the rink. It was an optional skate and only the Winnipeg call-ups – along with Curtis Sandford and the two Mikes (Weaver and Brown), skated with Smudge. Pretty routine stuff. Shooting. Skating. Stretching. Not much to report.  Bert found a few of the trainers in the hallway early this morning and the group exchanged war stories. That's one of the great things - friendships exist everywhere and don't disappear just because the jerseys change. It’s weird how many guys have played together in this league. It’s more like two degrees of separation. I swear you could connect all 30 teams through ten guys – as long as you throw Mike Sillinger and Bryan Smolinksi into the mix. There was a great moment when Scott Niedermayer skated over to our bench and extended his hand to Jason Jaffray, who was watching the Ducks skate.  Seems that Jaff runs a summer hockey school in Cranbrook with the Niedermayer brothers. The two shared a laugh and Jaff asked Scott if he was playing tonight. Scott said he wasn’t - something about cap space. I'm sure Jason exhale a little sigh of relief.Tonight is a big game, as they all are, but dragging a two-game losing streak into Anaheim is starting to weigh on the guys. They need a lift here tonight.   -  |
