On Tuesday, November 27, Garry “Mondo” Monahan signed autographs and posed for photos with some very excited Canucks fans in the concourse of GM Place. Garry was the first player ever selected in the original NHL amateur draft in 1963. He turned pro with the Montreal Canadiens in 1967, where he played 14 games before moving to Detroit and LA in 1969/1970.
Garry arrived in Vancouver on October 16, 1974 after playing four years with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played four seasons with the Canucks with his best season being the 76-77 season with a record 18 goals and 26 assists. Over his four years with Vancouver, Gary played 287 games with a record of 58-82-140 and remains in 50th place in all time scoring.
