Canucks Honour Canadian Forces
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they will honour the Canadian Forces this Friday, November 9th when they play host to the Colorado Avalanche at General Motors Place. This event just prior to Remembrance Day will honour the Canadian Forces who have served Canada and will feature over 170 Canadian Forces members in attendance.

Loyal Canucks season ticket holders have shown their generosity and support for our Canadian Forces by donating their game tickets for Friday’s game. Canucks ticket holders are still able to donate their tickets by visiting a lower mainland London Drugs before 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7th. All donated tickets will be distributed to the Canadian Forces prior to the game on Friday night.

The Canadian Forces night will commence with a pre-game ceremonial puck drop with The Chief of Defence Staff, General Rick Hillier as well as selected Canadian Forces personnel. It will be followed by PO1 Michael Broadley singing the national anthems while accompanied by a 35-piece Nadan band. During the first intermission, there will also be an on-ice skills competition featuring Canadian Forces personnel – Army vs. Air Force vs. Navy.

Canucks fans will also have several opportunities to show their support for the Canadian Forces throughout the evening. “Support Our Troops” banners will be set up at multiple tables around the concourse at General Motors Place allowing fans to pen messages to the troops. In addition to the on-ice ceremony, Canadian Forces video announcements will be played throughout the night and ten thousand “Support Our Troops” pucks will be distributed following the game. Fans can also purchase “Support our Troops” merchandise from a kiosk on the concourse.
