VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks, in conjunction with General Motors of Canada, are proud to announce that Gina Alveberg of Coldstream, British Columbia has won the 2007 Telethon Car Draw. In 2006-07, more than $985,000 was raised for the 17th annual Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon, presented by Chevrolet, with all proceeds benefiting the Vancouver Canucks luminary charity, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

"This is so awesome," said Alveberg. "We are thrilled because we were about to go look for a new car. The Canucks for Kids Fund Telethon is a terrific event and brings together all fans from across the province for Canuck Place through hockey. My 13-year-old son and I were watching the Telethon and he said, 'Mom, I really want to help. I want to give something.' We made a deal and I said I would match whatever he donated."

Canuck Place celebrates its 12th anniversary this year, offering specialized care for children with progressive life-threatening illnesses. This unique healthcare facility serves to enhance quality of life through comprehensive and family-centred care.
