Vancouver Canucks

2006

Wednesday, November 15 marked the 7th annual , an event in partnership between the Canucks for Kids Fund and BC Special Olympics. Canucks GM Dave Nonis, Assistant GM Steve Tambellini, the Canucks coaching staff, and the entire Vancouver Canucks roster were on hand to raise money for these two great local charities.

The beginning of the evening saw guests making their way around the Pacific Ballroom, competing against the Canucks players at table hockey, darts, mini-golf, and car racing in exchange for a donation. For dinner, every Canuck player was paired up with a Special Olympian. A live and silent auction followed.

The event is just what the name suggests: professional athletes from around North America come out to celebrate and raise money for these two great causes. In addition to the current Vancouver Canucks, several Canuck alumni were also there: Dave Babych, Jyrki Lumme, Greg Adams, and former Canucks great and current Canucks Director of Player Development Stan "Steamer" Smyl. Local boy and Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau was also on-hand.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin teamed up with a pair of Special Olympian twins, Andrew and Glen McIntyre, to finish the evening with a great double-the-fun speech. After all was said and done over $200,000 was raised for the Canucks for Kids Fund and BC Special Olympics.
